[There were 4 grateful deads- the first peaked in 72- the second peaked in 77. The third peaked in 81-82. And the fourth peaked in 89-early 90. I will allow for a fifth GD that peaked in the late Horsby era. ]

Couldn't agree more. Those are indeed the 4 great peaks.

The "dead" years, IMO, were from app. '85-'88, a weak stretch with some gems thrown in of course, and I personally don't see much good from '91 to '95. I know there are many here on the forum who would disagree, but I think the band really declined in a terrible way in those final years.
